Fillers work by filling in a space that is relatively deflated. The mechanism of action of the filler product and its properties determine the naturalness of the final look and the duration of effectiveness.
The most common filler type at present in the USA is hyaluronic acid (HA). HA fillers attract water and swell, much like a sponge. Some have elasticity; others have none. Some are more stiff for lifting tissue; others are very soft and pliable for treating shallow lines and lips.
Biostimulatory, regenerative fillers, which are gaining momentum in their use in the USA, trigger your body to produce more natural tissue to approach amounts you had when you were younger.
Examples of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers include:
- RHA products
- Evolysse products
- Restylane products (e.g., Restylane-L, Kysse, Lyft, Defyne, Refyne, Contour)
- Juvederm products (e.g., Voluma, Volbella, Juvederm Plus)
- Versa
Examples of biostimulatory, regenerative fillers include:
- Radiesse
- Sculptra
- BellaFill
- AlloClae/DermaClae
- PRP
- Exosomes
Filler types differ in their mechanism of action, which determines the side effects. They also differ in:
- Onset of action time
- Duration of action
- Likelihood of developing a nodule (lump)
- Effects on skin quality and elasticity
Biostimulatory, regenerative fillers tend to:
- Give a more natural look
- Improve skin quality in collagen and elastin content
- Have less likelihood of a nodule (lump or bump) forming
- Last longer
- Be significantly less likely to develop a vascular occlusion (which can result in tissue death and/or blindness)
- Not migrate, as can happen with some HA fillers
- Avoid the “stretch effect” to the dermis that HA fillers can cause, especially with repeat injections in the same area
Biostimulatory, regenerative fillers take longer to reach peak results and last longer before they go away.
Getting rid of lumps or bumps from them also takes longer than those associated with HA fillers.
All About Aesthetics, PC takes patient safety and compliance seriously.
- Injectors are tested in readiness to both prevent and treat any side effects or incidents associated with cosmetic procedures.
- Injectors are trained to choose safe needle and cannula entry sites to avoid harm to unseen blood vessels or nerves.
- We adhere to strict sterility and cleanliness policies, and will prescribe antibiotics if recommended.
- Injectors are skilled in the use of cannulas instead of needles whenever advisable. Cannula use significantly reduces risks of bleeding and bruising, and the 22G cannulas our injectors use have never, to date, been associated with a vascular occlusion.
- We provide a list of foods and supplements that act as natural blood thinners and recommend avoiding them to reduce bruising risk.
- We recommend arnica montana and red LED light therapy for quicker resolution of bruising, and cold packs and/or red + near-infrared light for quicker resolution of swelling.
- We review your medical history for any signs or symptoms of allergies or sensitivities.
- We only recommend skincare products that have science-based evidence for efficacy and safety.
- For surgical procedures, we offer the same safety features you would expect in a hospital outpatient surgical facility.
- For hair transplants, we use the best follicular unit extraction device available (per the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons) and fly in top hair transplant techs to assure a significantly better-than-average success rate.
- For laser procedures, only certified providers render care and you receive written recommendations to optimize results and recovery.
- For facials and other skincare procedures, only certified estheticians and providers render care, with written recommendations for a safe, smooth recovery.
- All staff members are certified annually in Blood-Borne Pathogen, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance.
- Staff are continually encouraged and financially compensated to attend meetings and courses to stay current with safe, effective practices and procedures.
Dysport spreads more than others in the same amount of liquid, making it a better choice for treatment of crow’s feet (and armpit sweating).
Xeomin tends to work a little faster and last longer in people with certain medical conditions than Botox or Jeuveau.
Letybo tends to spread less than other Toxes and may need more injection sites and a greater number of units to relax muscles than Botox, Jeuveau, or Xeomin.
Jeuveau is most like Botox.
Daxxify’s effects last longer than Botox in most people. While other neurotoxins may become available in the USA, All About Aesthetics prioritizes recognizing when one Tox may benefit a patient more than another.
The diagnosis of the cause of your hair thinning determines the best choice of treatments. All About Aesthetics, PC’s providers can help you with this.
In general, many people with hair loss and thinning benefit from:
- Nutritional supplementation
- Red and orange LED light treatments
- Certain topical hair-growth exosomes
- Guidance on healthy hair care (shampoo and conditioner choices, combing and hairstyle techniques)
Our ultrasound treatments with hair-growth exosomes are associated with better results than microneedling and PRP, and take minimal effort on your part (they are painless).
Male pattern baldness and genetic-based female hair loss is slowed with topical or oral prescription medications; our licensed providers can prepare these prescriptions.
Severe hair loss may benefit from surgical intervention. FUE (follicular unit extraction) is the present gold standard surgical hair transplant treatment, per the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS). All About Aesthetics, PC’s providers were trained by a past president of the ISHRS and author of three textbooks on hair transplants.
We also fly in the best hair transplant technicians to assist in the surgical process (which has no downtime and little-to-no pain afterward) to assure you a superior result to what you could expect elsewhere.
Yes. All About Aesthetics, PC goes to great lengths to teach and test its injectors, all of whom are experienced, licensed medical professionals known nationally for their work and regularly asked to teach all over the USA.
Continuing education in aesthetic procedures is both encouraged and required of all injectors and providers of care.
Relax! Your All About Aesthetics provider or injector will visually and physically examine your skin, review your medical history, and give you science-based recommendations tailored to your skin type and concerns.
It depends on the treatment.
- Tox (neurotoxin) and most filler treatments have zero downtime.
- The ultrasound with exosome hair loss treatment has zero downtime.
- Microneedling with or without radiofrequency, or hair transplant by FUE, will typically have less than 24 hours of downtime.
- Surgical blepharoplasty (lid lift) or aggressive CO2 laser resurfacing will require a few days of downtime.
- 90% of people see results in the first week; 10% in the second week.
- About 50% of people notice results within 3–4 days of injection.
- It takes 2–3 days to “settle in” from the onset of action.
- Most Tox treatments last 3–4 months.
- The majority of people who get Daxxify note that it lasts 6–7 months.
It is best to treat in the first year every 3 to 3½ months so lines etched in the skin go away faster, and a little overlap in injections allows effects to last longer. By the second year, many patients can schedule Tox treatments 4 months apart.
It depends on the choice of filler and where it is placed.
When a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is used in the lips, it may last 6–15 months, depending on the specific filler, your exercise routine, and your metabolism. Results are seen immediately, but improve over the first week.
When a biostimulatory, regenerative filler is chosen, it may last from 15 months to forever, depending on the product:
- Radiesse lasts about 15–24 months.
- BellaFill lasts forever.
- Sculptra lasts about 3½ years.
Results of Radiesse, BellaFill, and DermaClae are seen immediately; results of Sculptra are seen starting about 4 months from injection.
Peak results:
- Radiesse: 3–4 weeks
- BellaFill: 6–8 months
- Sculptra: 8–12 months
Radiesse and BellaFill are injected with a cannula, while Sculptra is injected with a needle. The full amount needed of Radiesse and BellaFill can be injected in one session. The full amount of Sculptra must be injected over three sessions, each separated by 2–3 months.
All About Aesthetics, PC injectors are trained to recommend the best-overall choice for you.
There is minimal-to-no pain or discomfort with our treatments.
Our injectors use anesthetic when it is safe to do so and when it will not affect the final outcome. They are also taught pressure techniques and use distracting vibration devices to minimize patient discomfort.
Absolutely. Your time is precious and there is seldom a reason you cannot combine procedures we offer.
There are some recommendations to ensure full efficacy and duration of a procedure, such as:
- No facials, chemical peels, or microneedling on the face for a week after Tox has been injected.
- No dental work for at least a week after filler has been injected in the face.
- No microneedling of the scalp for at least a few days after an ultrasound treatment for hair loss (though this is an unusual occurrence, as clinical trials show clear superiority of ultrasound + exosomes vs. microneedling ± PRP).
- For Tox (neurotoxins, like Botox): return every 3–4 months.
- For many hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers: you usually need to return after about a year.
- For Radiesse: return in about 18 months.
- For BellaFill: you may need a small “topper” in about 6 years.
- For Sculptra: return in about 3½ years.
Yes, but it may be a short consult depending on your concerns, and the treatment may be done the same day.
Unless you are desiring a full face and/or neck and/or hair and scalp consultation, there will be no charge.
- Make sure your medical history and allergies are up to date in your profile.
- List all of the procedures or problem areas you want addressed by the provider or injector.
- Review the list of foods and supplements that are natural blood thinners, and have some arnica montana and/or red LED light therapy on hand to reduce the risk of bruising if needles are involved (especially important for fillers).
- Relax — we are going to take great care of you.
Yes. Our injectors can help with recommendations, procedures, and prescriptions to assist with acne scars, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.
After about two months of skin preparation to optimize results, you may receive a prescription topical anesthetic that is applied to clean, dry skin 45 minutes before an appointment for microneedling, laser, or a chemical peel.
Microneedling uses a cartridge of many tiny, skinny needles mounted to a vibrating base that is applied to anesthetized skin, causing thousands of micro-injuries.
This triggers the body to repair itself, including ramping up production of new skin cells and new collagen and elastin. It can break down scar tissue and speeds up skin cell turnover.
Sun damage and hyperpigmentation are treated well (usually with a series of treatments) in conjunction with good skin-bleaching agents (like 4–6% hydroquinone) and good physical sunscreens (like micronized zinc oxide or titanium dioxide).
Yes, we can.
Combinations of volumizing fillers (especially biostimulatory, regenerative ones) with ultrasound or microneedling and topical exosomes can significantly improve skin laxity, tone, texture, and wrinkles — all without surgery.
There are always risks associated with any medical treatment, but with the safeguards that All About Aesthetics, PC has implemented — in its training and testing of injectors, protocols for dealing with any side effects or incidents, and strict adherence to rules by our Compliance Officer — you are in far safer hands than in the vast majority of clinics and medspas.
No need to worry about looking “overdone.”
Our injectors are trained professionals and learn techniques to deliver natural-looking, rejuvenating results. We want to enhance your features and make you look naturally younger and vibrant.
You can expect results you will be happy with and only a few days of downtime.
Your surgeon will assess your particular eyelids and explain the plan to treat them in detail, including the surgery procedure, alternatives, and pros and cons of each option.
You will be shown before-and-after pictures of patients with similar eyelids and receive:
- Written instructions for post-op care
- Referral to videos explaining post-op instructions
- A bag of sterile eye pads, sterile water, and cold pack holders to place over your eyelids for the first two days to quickly reduce swelling
- Recommendations of foods to avoid to reduce your risk of bruising to a minimum
You will have post-operative visits at no extra charge and access to the surgeon for any questions.
If someone accompanies you and wishes to stay during the procedure, we provide a relaxation room with beverages and snacks. We are here to make your experience as safe and pleasant as possible.
