Meso-Lipotherapy/Lipo-Lyzesm
Deborah Hudak, M.D. first learned of meso-lipotherapy about 5 years ago when reading through Cosmetic Surgery Times (as she is an Oculofacial Surgeon and Ophthalmologist, and Raleigh's only member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, a Board-Certified group of cosmetic surgeons). The European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery had named Lipotherapy as the "Most Promising New Procedure for Minimally-Invasive Cosmetic Surgery." After conducting extensive research, education, and training, Dr. Hudak developed a proprietary modification to meso-lipotherapy and introduced Lipo-Lyzesm. Some articles call it "Next Gen Liposuction."
Mesotherapy is a method of introducing medicines into the body by way of the mesoderm (skin). It was invented in 1952 by Michel Pistor, MD, in Paris, France. Jacques Le Coz, MD was a protege of Dr. Pistor (who died in 2003), and became a friend as they tweaked and improved their mesotherapy. Dr. Le Coz is the author of the most complete book on mesotherapy. There are 3 techniques used, all of which use 27-30 Gauge needles (the size people inject themselves daily with for insulin) called Nappage with Tremor, Nappage with Bounce, and Point Per Point. The needle goes down only 1/10th to less than 1/2 inch depth. They used the techniques for treating many illnesses (and still do) such as tendinitis, scars, various skin conditions, etc. Le Coz has served for years as the Doctor in charge of treating sports injuries of France's National Soccer Team! In 1986, the French Academy of Medicine sanctioned it as a legitimate and efficacious way to treat many medical disorders, and even to be considered a "standard of care."
One of their students of 3 years, a Dermatologist from Sao Paolo, Brazil, Patricia G. Rittes, MD, took their Point Per Point technique and applied medication used for lipomas (benign fatty tumors) to bulging lower eyelid fat pads for cosmetic purposes in 1995...and got PERMANENT spot fat reduction! Dr. Rittes is credited with the first application of mesotherapy for cosmetic applications which is now referred to as Lipotherapy (lipodissolve). Roman Chubaty, MD, an Internist from Toronto, Canada, studied from Le Coz, Pistor, and Rittes and brought the procedure to Toronto, and then moved a few years ago to Phoenix, Arizona and brought the procedures with him. Diane Duncan, MD, a Plastic Surgeon from Fort Collins, Colorado, has done clinical research to determine the ideal depth of injection, volume of injection, and spacing of injections to achieve permanent spot fat reduction in the various parts of the body. Duncan and Chubaty published the largest survey of physicians and patients' results on this subject in a medical journal, and the results will likely astound you. Treated by more than 75 physicians in 17 countries, out of more than 17,000 patients and more than 56,000 treatment sessions, there were no deaths, no hospitalizations, no infections, no episodes of skin necrosis! There are now reportedly more than 1000 physicians worldwide that administer Mesotherapy.
The major medicines used in Lipo-Lyzesm are phosphatidylcholine (a product of soy and lecithin) and deoxycholate (a bile salt long used for treatment of liver diseases here in the USA and abroad).
It is truly incredible! Lipo-Lyzesm for PERMANENT spot fat and cellulite reduction is done with no downtime, no surgery, no anesthetic (unless you want topical anesthetic or pre-treatment cold air) in 1-5 treatment sessions (for spot fat and cellulite stage 4), 5-10 treatment sessions (for cellulite stage 1-3). Pain is usually present for the first 2-24 hours (less than 1-1/2% of more than 17,000 patients and > 56,000 treatments had pain more than 48 hours), but rarely is in need of anything more than Tylenol ExtraStrength. Bruising often occurs, but goes away in 1-2 weeks, usually. This is minimized by pre- and post-treatment with Vitamin C and Arnica. Swelling can be huge, peaking in 1-3 days, but is a good thing: the more swelling, the more skin retraction and dermal thickening. (Dr. Duncan showed a 14% skin reduction per treatment session in her research.) 90% of back fat rolls are gone with a single treatment. The "spare tire" and "love handles" typically take 1-3 sessions. Other areas that respond great: jowls, "turkey gobbler"/fat under the chin, male gynecomastia (breasts), inner and outer thighs, "bat wings"/fat under the upper arms, lower lid fat pads. Lipo-Lyzesm is NOT intended to be for weight reduction (although many people get some weight reduction with fat reduction), but IT IS for inch reduction!!!
